The Masjid Us-Salam – Phakalane Islamic Centre was recently constructed in Gaborone to accommodate the growing local Islamic community. Six Dots was one of the AV companies invited in to bid for the work of installing an audio system inside the centre. As the Botswanan partner of Prosound, Six Dots delved into the distributor’s catalogue to design a solution based on systems from Bosch and its Dynacord brand.

‘The mosque required a main PA to accommodate both worship and lectures conducted in the hall, and a further external system for the call to prayer,’ explained Tsaone Makula from Prosound’s Botswana branch.

The main worship area has been equipped with two Dynacord-DC-TS200W column speakers. ‘At first pendant speakers were considered, but we changed the design to Dynacord-DC-TS200Ws, as these proved to be more suitable for the main worship space,’ Makula noted.

The women’s area, entrance and wudu space are covered by four Bosch LC2-PC30G6-4 30W ceiling speakers. A further pair of LC2-PC30G6-4 speakers are installed in the men’s wudu and three provide coverage up on the first floor. Power for the sound system is provided by a Bosch PLE-1ME240-EU 240W amplifier and a PLE-1MA060 60W unit. A Shure PG58 wireless microphone was also supplied for voice capture.

‘Two weeks was allowed for the installation, which proved enough even with delayed access to the control room and ceiling as the main contractor had not finished,’ said Makula. ‘The job was carried out without incident or any unexpected challenges, which was most gratifying to the team along with a very happy Iman who said, “the PA is serving us well”.’
