Prosound Sales Consultant, Victor Vermaak, is well aware of the nuances of doing church installations, having already worked on jobs for Crossroads Church, Church of Christ, Our Lady of Fatima and Choose Life Church in Gauteng. Existing sound systems often highlight bands or choirs in church services and the spoken word is often compromised due to continual adjustments being made during services.
Fr Keith Gordon-Davies of Bryanston Catholic Church requested Victor to upgrade the church’s sound system, enabling the preachers’ and readers’ voices to be enhanced and also limiting the chances of alterations being made to sound levels and setups during Mass.
For speaker management and sound processing, the Ashly NE24.24 was chosen as, once it is set up with Protea software, the system can essentially be locked away, rendering it tamper proof. High-quality EV speakers were selected, some having to be stripped and re-finished in white at the special request of the church. The design of a speaker cluster bracket to hold two TX1181 subs as well as three ZX5s needed the expertise of Prosound specialists Boy Magnussen, Grant Scott and Mark Malherbe, thereby allowing the subs to fly from the ceiling.
The tailor-made setup was completed in time for Easter services and even the most cynical of parish members had to compliment the sound quality they experienced during this holy time.
