What an opening, what a sport- Prosound does Ellis Park
With a storm of colour and sound, South Africans descended on Ellis Park on the 14th June 2009 for the opening game of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009™ between Bafana Bafana and Iraq.
As the first fans rounded the street corners of Johannesburg in their approach to Ellis Park, a concrete mass of green and gold, with flags flying and the clamoring of abundant vuvuzela's, were ready to enter the stadium.
To greet the fans, in Ellis Park Stadium is a permanent, high performance sound system designed and installed by Prosound. The ubiquitous Electro-Voice loudspeaker controlled by Peavey Media Matrix in Ellis Park completes another of 9 of the 2010 stadia by Prosound.
In terms of the contract at Ellis Park, Prosound also had to have oversight of the system and be available on technical standby for the opening ceremony and going forward for all the games.
With Prosound’s experience in events of this nature, we assisted the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Host Broadcasting Services (HBS) with the interfacing of their systems into the Ellis Park sound systems and operationally during the event.
In addition Prosound contracting to VWV Consortium was responsible for the inter-communication and interfacing into the house sound system for the opening event.
