Prosound hits Wanderers Stadium for a six!

Prosound, together with Ian Mansfield who acted as consultant on behalf of S.A. Cricket, were tasked to complete the upgrade and re-install of the sound system at the Liberty Life Wanderers Stadium, which is one of South Africa’s premier cricketing stadium.

Since South Africa's return to International cricket in 1991, the Liberty Life Wanderers Stadium has undergone major changes and is regarded as one of the finest in world cricket.

Having been involved with the sound system on and off since the early eighties, Prosound with MEG were able to quickly identify the most efficient and cost effective method to provide the client with a robust yet quality sound system. The brief was to provide high power music capable sound to cover the entire stadium, whilst maintaining ease of use and reliability.

The decision was made to utilise loudspeakers mounted on the moat firing into the seated areas, a methodology successfully implemented for the Cricket World Cup 2003. Combinations of Electro-Voice Zx5 and a redeployment of existing Electro-Voice Sx100 loudspeakers have been used. The system comprises over 30 Zx5’s and 20 Sx100’s.

All power amplification is provided by Crest, again a large quantity of existing units were reused. To provide the system signal processing and remote control, a Peavey Media Matrix digital signal processor is being used.

Electro-Voice loudspeakers, Crest power amplifiers and Media Matrix processors are also forming the backbone for most of the 2010 World Cup Soccer Stadium Installations.
