PhDJ at Prosound the Shop

Friday, 5th February 2010

Australia’s highest profile indie party DJ and spokesman for a generation of left-of-centre party-goers and music lovers, PhDJ, took the decks at Prosound on Tuesday, 26th January 2010 to launch his South African tour with a demonstration set and interactive workshop for local musicians.

In front of a strong local crowd of musicians, established and aspirant DJs as well as other industry stakeholders, PhDJ produced a masterful blend with tracks from indie, hip hop and electro through to rock, Baltimore, crunk and punk, in a three hour workshop aimed at sharing some tips and tricks on mixing, sourcing of tracks, and the right choice of equipment for the perfect mix.

“It’s a real privilege to mix it up for the guys from Prosound and their mates,” said PhDJ. “The welcome so far has been amazing and I’m looking forward to the rest of the tour, where I hope I can bring a little something extra and a fresh musical experience to the local music scene.”

Prosound’s Martin Thomas says by sponsoring PhDJ – the man responsible for setting up Sydney’s longest running indie club as well as Australia’s most recognizable indie club brand - the company aims to give musicians, DJs, bands, event organizers and other industry role players exposure to this internationally renowned DJ’s mashed up versatility behind the decks.

“As he loudly and convincingly demonstrated on Tuesday night, PhDA has a set of skills that are hard to match and we’re glad he was able to take time out to share some of this expertise that has made him one of the world’s leading mix masters,” says Martin
